Is granny hair the hottest beauty trend of the season?

Hello everyone!

In an effort to stay eternally youthful, most women usually touch-up their roots every time they spot a few silver strands peeking out.  Now, there’s a beauty (and Instagram) trend popping up; granny hair.  This new trend is provoking conversation about blurring the lines between ageing and greying.

Jean Paul Gaultier introduced granny hair into fashion back in 2011.  A year later Kelly Osbourne and Kate Moss both sported silver locks and since then everyone from Lady Gaga to Kylie Jenner has been experimenting with this look.

Fact or Fiction? - Beauty myths, debunked!

Hello everyone!

It’s time to test your beauty knowledge!  With so many beauty myths out there, it’s hard to know fact from fiction.  Find out which of these commonly held beliefs are true and which ones are entirely false.

1. Hypoallergenic means you won't have any negative reactions to the product.

Fact or Fiction? Fiction.

Hypoallergenic simply means that most people won't react negatively to it, not that you definitely won't.

2. If you have oily skin you shouldn't use facial oils.

Fact or Fiction? Fiction.

Facial oils aren't just for dryer skin types.  Not only does oil-prone skin need hydration, but adding oil can actually help the skin produce less oil in the long run.  Oils also assist in healing scaring and hydrating the skin.

3. You can’t smell your own perfume.

Fact or Fiction? Fact.

Your nose can become accustomed to your signature scent.  Beware, just because you become less sensitive to your regular fragrance, doesn't mean everyone else does!

4. Pluck a grey hair and seven more will appear.

Fact or Fiction? Fiction.

It’s physically impossible to increase the number of follicles you have on your head as a result of plucking out a hair.

5. You must use anti-aging creams over the age of 30.

Fact or Fiction? Fiction.

This is not a rule; whilst one person may notice fine lines beginning to appear in their twenties, another may not notice the first signs of aging until well into their thirties.

6. Shaving makes hair grow back thicker and darker.

Fact or Fiction? Fiction.

Shaving gives the hair a blunt tip.  The tip might feel coarse or "stubbly" as it grows out.  During this phase, the hair might be more noticeable and perhaps appear darker or thicker, but it's not.

I will be posting more Fact or Fiction? soon!  Like and Follow this blog so you won't miss a post!
